Atlas Jónsson is the fiction pseudonym of Michael Chapman, a British writer and editor based in Reykjavík, Iceland.
Michael has lived in Iceland for more than a decade. His professional background spans journalism, publishing and travel writing, including work for Lonely Planet, Iceland Review and The Reykjavík Grapevine. His nonfiction book Hidden Iceland was published by Luster in 2022.
As Atlas Jónsson, he writes speculative fiction shaped by Icelandic landscapes, folklore and history. His stories explore consciousness, belief, memory and the systems people trust to protect them.
Two short works, Song of the Álfar and Return to the Tide, have been independently published as digital editions. His debut novel, A System Called Sunrise, is complete and currently seeking literary representation.
Michael lives in Reykjavík with his partner and their two dogs.
