Two short stories, Song of the Álfar and Return of the Tide, are now available to preorder as digital editions on Amazon.
These are the first published works from Atlas Jónsson, offering an introduction to a body of writing that moves between folklore, speculative fiction, and the uneasy space where reality begins to shift. Rooted in Icelandic landscape and atmosphere, both stories explore how people respond when the structures they rely on begin to give way.
Song of the Álfar, drawn from the early writings of Atlas Jónsson, takes place in rural Iceland. A young girl’s return from disappearance unsettles a community and brings to light something long buried beneath belief and memory. The story moves between testimony and myth, offering no clear resolution, only the suggestion that some things are never fully laid to rest.

Return to the Tide is set in the aftermath of ecological collapse, where the state has reduced its message to a single directive, a return to the sea. Sævar’s fate appears already decided. Over the course of two days, however, it becomes clear that the process is not as controlled as it seems, and that something older, and less obedient, is at work.
Together, these stories establish a distinct voice in contemporary speculative fiction, one that is as concerned with atmosphere and perception as it is with narrative. They are short works, but deliberately so, designed to be read in a single sitting and to linger well beyond it.
Both titles are short works and are now available to preorder in digital format via Amazon.
